Go With the Flow

There is much to learn about singing
but this is the hardest to learn.

‘Never louder than lovely’.

The teacher tells me many things
with kindness and good humour.
Now it is my turn
to use what I have absorbed and observed.

Open mouth slightly to let the music flow.
Never snatch the air for breath.
Let the air flow.

Think high notes for low
and low notes for high.
Don’t stretch out to the note.
It will float to me.

Stand in the singers pose.
Relaxed at the knees.

The more i learn about singing
i learn to relax and just be.

The secret is going with the flowing.
From now on I will let
the music flow through me

Breathing takes Practice

Old habits die hard.
I feel the puffs of air rising from the bottom of my diaphragm.
I raise it like a sword that is going to help me get through to the end of the bar. Sometimes I get through but drop the air like it is made of lead.
Other times I slowly lower the end of the sword until
it is resting at the bottom of my diaphragm until next time it is needed.
