Sun sinks softly and silently.
downwards darkening the world.
Clouds disappear.
Creatures settle in for the night.
Doors open and close.
Lights sparkle.
Street fixtures and bins
are alien identities.
Shadows stretch.
Cats scale walls.
Some birds do not
make it to their nest.
Night music time.
Moon rises and
throws a beam of light
onto the waiting world.
Roger Taylor crickets
rub legs together.
Block, block, kerblock.
Frogs chorus with a
twittering of birds.
Will tomorrow come?
Will it stay dark?
The world cools and waits.
For what?
The question is asked in the
quickening of footsteps.
It is answered in the
nocturnal noises.
Noises increasing in
both volume and confidence.
