Gilded Cage

Practice makes perfect.
Practice sets me apart to
perfect a craft.
Rehearsals spent learning means
time lost with family and friends.
Choices made which puts my needs
above everybody elses.

Show time.
Standing on stage under spotlight.
Admired and loved by many.
Performance needs met.
Personal needs not met.
Need to be loved by loved ones,
Need to be known and understood
more than gazed upon a multitude.

I made this decision to be apart the
first time I placed my hand on my instrument.
First time I stood at the piano and sang.
I love to make music.
I am a performet learning that
being a performer is
a gilded cage.
