Round your Vowels

I have travelled northward to
England
the land of the Queen’s English.
I have been taught how to
produce the correct sound.
When I visited the UK I found
my consonants were not the sharpest
and my vowels were not so round.

I follow the vertical philosophy
every time I speak.
I do not speak with nasal twang.
Instead try to use dulcet tones.

I went to England alone.
An ‘Aussie’ in a strange town
called Bath and I found
I must have trod in a
massive pile of dipthong
because it followed me all around.

I speak in an Australian way
because that is who I am.
I will continue to sing sweetly
and do the best i can
because I am an Australian.
That is who I am.
